On July 12, SKS held the signing ceremony for the "Momorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Ecological Development of Farmland in Lanyang Plain" in Sanxing Township, Yilan County. SKS joined forces with the Hualien District Agricultural Research and Extension Station of the Ministry of Agriculture and Worthy Farmers' Cooperative, launching farmland-centered ecological development initiatives to protect the biodiversity of the Lanyang Plain and fulfill the Company's commitment to environmental sustainability and social responsibility. The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Lao-Dar Juang, Director of the Department of Resources Sustainability, Ministry of Agriculture, underscoring the strong commitment to promoting sustainable agriculture through cross-sector collaboration among government, industry, and academia.
SKS has long been dedicated to sustainable business operations, embedding ESG principles into its core operations. This collaboration is centered around three primary pillars: "habitat creation, environmental education, and sustainable consumption." Through scientific observation and the establishment of habitats conducive to pollinators, SKS supports the creation and conservation of farmland biodiversity, promotes environmental education, and inspires public awareness and recognition of nature. Additionally, the Company supports local farmers by adopting farmland and purchasing eco-friendly agricultural products, helping stabilize production and increase income.
As part of the cooperation plan, the Hualien District Agricultural Research and Extension Station provides professional ecological surveys and technical guidance, and works together with Worthy Farmers' Cooperative to promote organic and eco-friendly farming, biodiversity workshops, farmers' markets, and parent-child agricultural experiences. These diverse activities create a shared learning platform, increasing public participation and action in environmental protection.
On the day of the event, a special "Bai Tian Tou" blessing ceremony was held, symbolizing a profound connection with the land and officially launching the solitary bee field as a demonstration site for farmland ecological monitoring and pollinator conservation. The event also featured a rice harvesting experience and a local farmers' market, inviting guests to participate in agricultural activities and savor locally produced, eco-friendly products. Through hands-on and farm-to-table experiences, participants developed a deeper appreciation for the significance of agricultural sustainability and biodiversity.
SKS stated that, following its selection as a ESG STORE demonstration enterprise of the Ministry of Agriculture, it has actively participated in this farmland ecology cooperation project. This not only fulfills the Company’s sustainability strategy and supports the United Nations SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), but also demonstrates the collaborative efforts of the Company, government, and local communities working together for mutual benefit. Looking ahead, SKS will continue to broaden the scope of the farmland ecology project, promoting initiatives such as nature observation records, environmental educational promotion and training, and the circular application of agricultural waste. The goal is to create a sustainable, eco-friendly farmland demonstration site that encourages extensive public participation. This memorandum of cooperation, jointly forged by the Company, government, and community, represents not only a heartfelt commitment to the land, but also a significant milestone in building a sustainable future for the next generation.
